From the editor
Welcome! My name is Tara, and I am the editor of Trailheaders Community Media. It’s my job to make it worth your time to be here. Read, write, share, dream about a trip, try something new and be part of the community.
I’ve been a “solo female traveler” since 2005, and every trip continues to be a learning experience. In 2014, I started Trailheaders as a personal travel blog, and I spent four years trying to make this look like other great travel blogs. There was one big problem though: although I enjoy the opportunity to tell my own tales, I’m really interested in helping others share their stories.
The next level
Many people have tales to tell but don’t have blogs (or channels or memoirs, etc.) for a variety of reasons. Some don’t feel like they travel “enough” to blog about it, and others travel so much that it’s tough to fit in regular content creation.
That’s why, in 2018 and beyond, it’s time for Trailheaders at a higher elevation. It can be so much more if we work together to take it from one woman’s story into a travelers’ collective. And that’s where you come in!

The main topics aren’t changing from travel and hiking, but we are changing our name from Trailheaders Travel and Hikes to Trailheaders Community Media to embrace the update to a multi-author platform. Running this website is still a one-woman volunteer operation, so your patience is appreciated as the community media project is built out.
